Create a QR code for any link or website
The most common use of a QR code: taking someone to a web page. Paste the URL, design the code in your brand and decide whether you want to be able to change the destination later.
What a URL QR code is
It is a code that stores a web address. When scanned, the phone shows the link and opens it in the browser. Use it for your online shop, a product page, a form, a survey, a booking or a video.
It can be static, with the address written into the code, or dynamic, with a short address that redirects to the destination you choose. A static code depends on no one and never expires; a dynamic one lets you change the destination after printing and count scans by country and device.
Link length matters: the more characters, the denser the code. A dynamic QR code always stores a short address, so the code stays simple even when your real destination carries long campaign parameters.
How to make a QR code from a URL in 3 steps
Step 1
Copy the full address
Include the https:// at the start. Open it on your phone first to check the page loads well on a small screen.
Step 2
Paste it into the builder
Click “Create in the builder” and paste the link as the content. If you are printing in volume, consider creating a dynamic QR code in your dashboard first.
Step 3
Design and download
Logo, colors, gradients, module shapes and a frame with text. Download PNG, SVG or PDF; the code passes a scan check before the download.
Tips for link QR codes
- Add UTM parameters to the link (utm_source=poster, for example) to see in your web analytics how many visits come from each printed code.
- If the link is long, use a dynamic QR code: the code stores a short address and stays less dense, easier to scan when printed small.
- Make sure the destination page is built for mobile; that is what every single person who scans will see.
- Ask the AI for a design based on your brand, for example “minimal, navy and white”, then fine-tune it by hand.
- For large prints, export SVG or PDF rather than enlarging a small PNG.
Frequently asked questions
Does a URL QR code expire?
A static QR code never expires: the address is inside the code. A QR Branding dynamic QR code does not either: it keeps working and stays editable forever, even after your credits run out.
Can I change the link after printing the QR code?
Only if it is dynamic. You create the dynamic QR code in your dashboard, print its code and change the destination whenever you want. A static code would have to be generated again.
Is it free to make a QR code for a website?
Yes. Static QR codes made by hand are unlimited on the free plan, and a free account includes 1 dynamic QR code. Packs are one-time payments from $9, with no subscription.
Can I see how many people scan my QR code?
With a dynamic QR code, yes: scans by day, country and device. With a static one you can measure visits in your own web analytics by adding UTM parameters to the link.
What if my QR code does not scan?
The engine validates every code against ISO/IEC 18004 before delivering it. If one that fails still reaches you, we regenerate it for free or refund the credit.
