Dynamic QR codes with no subscription that keep working if you stop paying

A dynamic QR code lets you change the destination after printing, but with many services it depends on a subscription: cancel it and the printed code may be switched off. Ours are paid for once and do not go dark when your pack runs out.

Works as a dynamic QR

What a dynamic QR code is and what it depends on

A dynamic QR code does not hold your website: it holds a short address from the service that created it, in our case qr-branding.com/q/…, which redirects to the destination you choose. That way you can change the destination whenever you like without touching the printed code, and see how often it is scanned by day, country and device.

The trade-off is that the code depends on that service. Many services tie the redirect to a subscription or a free trial: when you cancel, some switch the codes off and others keep them running with ads. Our comparison pages quote what each one says on its own pages.

QR Branding has no subscription. Your dynamic QR codes keep redirecting and stay editable with no expiry date, even after your credits run out or your pack expires. Your plan only limits how many new dynamic QRs you can create (1 with a free account, 3 on Starter, 25 on Pro and 150 on Studio) and how much stats history you see (30 days on Free and Starter, 6 months on Pro and 12 months on Studio).

There are reasonable exceptions, set out in the terms: a code stops working if you disable or delete it, and we can pause one whose destination has been reported for phishing or malware while we review it. Redirects are provided under fair use, but we never automatically cut off a legitimately used printed code.

How to create a dynamic QR code in 3 steps

  1. Step 1

Create the code in your dashboard

Sign in (it's free), go to "Dynamic QRs", click "Create dynamic QR" and enter a name and the destination URL.

  2. Step 2

    Design it with your brand

Copy the short address the dashboard gives you, paste it in the builder and apply your logo, colors and a frame. The code is scan-checked before download.

  3. Step 3

Print it and change the destination anytime

From the code's detail page you change the destination URL, pause or reactivate it, and see the scans, without reprinting anything.

Tips for using dynamic QR codes

  • Use a dynamic QR when the destination may change: menus, catalogs, promotions, posters or packaging printed in volume.
  • If the destination will never change and you do not need stats, a static QR code is simpler and depends on no service.
  • Make a separate code per item or location to compare the scans of each one.
  • Give each code a clear name in the dashboard ("Shop window poster, autumn"): it helps once you have several.
  • Before a large print run, scan a printed proof and check it reaches the right destination.
  • Before printing with any service, read what happens to the codes when you cancel or the free trial ends.

Frequently asked questions

Do my dynamic QR codes stop working if I don't buy more credits?

No. They keep redirecting and you can keep changing their destination even after your credits run out or your pack expires. Your plan only limits creating new dynamic QRs and the stats period you can see.

Is there a monthly or yearly fee?

No. Packs are one-time payments and never renew on their own. A free account already includes 1 dynamic QR without paying anything.

When would a dynamic QR code stop working?

If you disable or delete it from your dashboard, if the account is deleted, or if its destination is reported for abuse (phishing, malware): then we pause it while we review it and people who scan see a notice. If we ever closed the service, we would give at least 6 months' notice, redirects would keep working during that period and you could export your QRs to reprint them as static codes. The exact conditions are in the terms.

What if I have more dynamic QRs than my current plan allows?

You keep all of them, working and editable. You just cannot create new ones until you have room again.

Does scanning show ads or an interstitial page?

No. The scan goes straight to your destination on every plan. Only when we pause a code after an abuse report is a notice shown instead of the redirect.

What stats do I get?

Scans by day, country, device, operating system and browser. Your plan decides how much history you see (30 days on Free and Starter, 6 months on Pro, 12 on Studio); scans are kept for as long as the code exists.
